Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 6 ounces spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ small onion diced
- 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes
- 2 cups pasta sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a deep-dish pie plate.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, then drain the fat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and pasta sauce, and let simmer uncovered for 10 minutes or until thickened.
- Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted water until al dente according to package instructions. Drain the spaghetti well.
- Place the spaghetti in the greased pie plate, add the butter, and toss to coat. Mix in the eggs and parmesan cheese, then press down to form a crust.
- In a medium bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, parsley, and basil. Spread this mixture into the spaghetti crust, then top it with the meat sauce from the skillet.
- Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes. Add the shredded mozzarella on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
