Description

This Red, White and Blue Fruit Salad is a vibrant and tasty tribute to summer gatherings. Made with juicy watermelon, crisp apples, and a medley of fresh berries, it’s a simple yet impressive dish that everyone will love. Ideal for barbecues, picnics, or family dinners, this salad is both healthy and visually appealing, making it perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small seedless watermelon or 1/2 of a large watermelon
  • 8 apples optionally reserve 1 for making stars
  • ½ yellow honeydew melon
  • 4 cups strawberries stems removed
  • 2 cups raspberries
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice for soaking apples per 1 cup of water

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit and allow them to dry.
  2. Cut up watermelon, apples, and melon into small squares. Slice strawberries based on size preference. If not serving immediately, soak sliced apples in a lemon juice water mixture for at least 10 minutes. Use 1 tablespoon of lemon juice per 1 cup of water for soaking apples.
  3. Arrange blueberries and blackberries at the top left of your serving dish, creating a flag pattern. Continue layering with red and white fruits until filled to your liking.
  4. Cut one apple in a way that allows you to create star shapes with a cookie cutter; place the stars on top of the blue layer to finish your flag.

Notes

For a more festive look, you can use star-shaped fruit cutters for the apples.
This salad is best served fresh, but you can prep the fruit in advance to save time.
Experiment with additional fruits like pineapple or kiwi for added color and flavor.
