Description

These Pumpkin Churros are easy to make and incredibly flavorful, featuring a delightful pumpkin puree and served with a cinnamon maple cream cheese dip. Perfect for parties or a tasty treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the cinnamon maple cream cheese dip first.
  2. In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, light brown sugar, milk, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and maple syrup until smooth.
  3. Chill the dip in the fridge until you're ready to serve.
  4. Mix 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl for the churro coating and set aside.
  5. Line a plate with paper towels to drain the churros after frying.
  6. In a large bowl, whisk together the water, pumpkin puree, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  7. With a wooden spoon, stir in the all-purpose flour, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon salt until a dough forms.
  8. Transfer the dough to a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
  9. Heat 1 quart of vegetable oil in a deep-fryer or large skillet to 375 degrees F, using a candy thermometer to check the temperature.
  10. Carefully pipe 4-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd by frying 3 or 4 strips at a time.
  11. Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
  12. Remove the cooked churros and place them on the paper towel-lined plate to drain for 1 minute.
  13. While still warm, toss the churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well-coated.
  14. Serve warm with the chilled cinnamon maple cream cheese dip on the side.

Notes

Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to avoid greasy churros.
The cream cheese dip can be made ahead of time for better flavor.
Churros are best served fresh, but can be reheated in an oven.
