Description

This Pear Crisp combines sweet, juicy pears with a crunchy oat topping, making it a comforting dessert ideal for gatherings or a cozy night in. Perfect served warm with ice cream!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pears (peeled and thinly sliced from 56 pears)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats (gluten free, if needed)
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour (gluten free, if needed)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts (optional, chopped)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the pears, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
  3. In the same bowl, mix together the oats, all-purpose flour, and brown sugar. If desired, stir in the chopped pecans or walnuts at this stage.
  4. Cut the unsalted butter into the dry mixture with a fork, pastry cutter, or your fingers until it forms crumbles.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the crumbles over the pear mixture in the baking dish.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are hot and bubbling around the edges. Let cool slightly before serving.
  7. Enjoy warm, at room temperature, or chilled.
