Description

This Peach Pie Filling brings together ripe peaches and warm spices for an irresistible flavor. Perfect for pies or as a topping, this easy recipe allows you to enjoy a homemade treat that’s simple to prepare and utterly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ripe peaches, cubed
  • 2/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Cube the peaches, peeling first if they're fresh. If using frozen, be sure to thaw them.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cubed peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Stir the mixture well.
  3. Heat the mixture until the peach juice starts to separate and it simmers.
  4. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the filling thickens. Use a potato masher or similar tool to lightly mash about 20% of the peaches.
  5. Cook for an additional minute, then remove from the heat and allow to cool completely before use.

Notes

For a more intense flavor, let the filling cool in the refrigerator before using.
This filling can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
Consider adding a pinch of nutmeg for added warmth.
