- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 ½ cups butter (softened)
- 6 eggs
- 1 ½ tbsp vanilla
- 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tbsp baking powder
- ¾ tsp salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- 4 cups confectioner's sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2–3 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- Prepare four 9-inch round cake pans with cooking spray and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- Incorporate the flour, baking powder, and salt, then beat the mixture again.
- Gradually pour in the milk while continuously mixing until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter equally into four bowls.
- Add a different color of food coloring gel to each bowl and mix until well combined.
- Pour each colored batter into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool for 15 minutes before transferring to parchment paper and allow them to cool completely.
- For the frosting, mix the softened butter and confectioner's sugar together until crumbly.
- Add vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk, then beat until smooth, adjusting milk as needed for desired consistency.
- Assemble the cake by layering the cakes with frosting in between each layer.
- Top the assembled cake with additional frosting and sprinkles.
Notes
For vibrant colors, adjust the amount of food coloring gel to your preference.
Make sure the cakes are completely cooled before frosting to maintain structure.
This cake is perfect for special occasions, and leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator.
