Description

This Homemade Pizza Sauce bursts with irresistible flavor, featuring fresh garlic and crushed tomatoes. A quick and easy addition to your meals, it’s perfect for pizza nights or pasta dishes.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated on a microplane
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the grated garlic and sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently.
  3. Stir in the dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes; cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and sprinkle in the sugar, reducing the heat to low.
  5. Allow the sauce to simmer for 20 minutes until it thickens.
  6. Stir in the unsalted butter and season with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.
  7. Cool the sauce to room temperature before using.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the spices to suit your taste preferences.
This sauce can be refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for later use.
For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of red wine while simmering.
