- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the grated garlic and sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently.
- Stir in the dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes; cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and sprinkle in the sugar, reducing the heat to low.
- Allow the sauce to simmer for 20 minutes until it thickens.
- Stir in the unsalted butter and season with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.
- Cool the sauce to room temperature before using.
