Description

These Hawaiian Rolls offer an irresistible flavor with simple prep. Made with pineapple juice, milk, and butter, they make perfect comfort food for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup pineapple juice, canned, room temperature
  • ½ cup whole milk, warmed to 100-110°F
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 ¾ – 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons fine sea salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine pineapple juice, warm milk, melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, and yeast. Stir until well combined.
  2. Add all-purpose flour and 3 cups of bread flour. Mix until a rough dough forms, then add salt and mix again. Gradually add remaining bread flour until dough is slightly sticky but manageable.
  3. Knead the dough for 4-5 minutes with a stand mixer or 8-10 minutes by hand until smooth and elastic.
  4. Lightly grease a large bowl, place the dough inside, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 ½ hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into 15 equal pieces, and shape each piece into a smooth ball by pinching the bottom.
  6. Arrange dough balls in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan, brush with egg wash, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until puffy.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove rolls from the oven, brush with melted butter, and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting.
If you prefer sweeter rolls, you can increase the granulated or brown sugar slightly.
These rolls pair wonderfully with savory dishes or can be enjoyed on their own.
