Description

This Easy Oreo Frosting boasts a delightful flavor, creamy texture, and simple preparation. Made with key ingredients like butter, cream cheese, and Oreo cookies, it’s perfect for topping cakes and cupcakes, making any dessert special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 5 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 34 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 8 Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed into fine crumbs

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer with a wire whisk or a medium bowl with a handheld mixer, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla for 2-2½ minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Reduce mixer speed to medium-low. Gradually add the powdered sugar, 1½ cups at a time, while alternating with 1 tablespoon of heavy cream for each sugar addition. Add an extra ½ cup of powdered sugar if the consistency is too soft.
  3. Mix until the frosting is entirely smooth and creamy.
  4. Gently fold in the finely crushed Oreos, ensuring no large clumps remain to avoid difficulties in piping.
  5. If not using immediately or in a warm kitchen, refrigerate the frosting until ready to use.
  6. Before using, allow to reach room temperature for 20–30 minutes, then re-whip for 15–30 seconds to fluff.

Notes

Ensure the Oreo cookies are finely crushed for a smooth texture, especially if piping the frosting.
If the frosting is too soft, you can add more powdered sugar to achieve the desired consistency.
Refrigerate any leftovers to maintain freshness.
