Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Pound the chicken breasts to about ½ to ¾ inch thickness for even cooking, or slice large ones in half horizontally.
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
- Place the flour in a shallow bowl and dredge the chicken lightly, shaking off the excess flour.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until golden brown, though it doesn’t need to be fully cooked at this point. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the spices for a few hours before cooking.
Serve the chicken and gravy over rice or mashed potatoes for a comforting meal.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
