Description

This Crockpot Onion Dip combines caramelized onions, cream cheese, and sour cream for an irresistible flavor. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large onions
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice each onion in half, discard the ends, and peel.
  2. Cut the onion halves into thin strips.
  3. In the crockpot, add the sliced onions and drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt and pepper, then mix to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or keep warm until ready to make the dip.
  5. Stir in sour cream, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and optional hot sauce until well combined.
  6. Taste the dip and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if desired.
  7. Serve warm directly from the crockpot or chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving as a cold dip.

Notes

For a thicker dip, consider draining some of the juices after cooking the onions.
This dip can easily be made overnight, allowing for a fresh dip in the morning.
Garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor and presentation.
