- 8 ounces spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup butter (unsalted)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- salt and pepper (to taste)
- 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
- ½ cup white wine (such as sauvignon blanc)
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water and drain.
- In a large skillet, add the olive oil and butter and melt over medium heat.
- Add the onion and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until aromatic.
- Season with salt, pepper, and italian seasoning.
- Stir in the white wine and simmer for about 3 minutes.
- Add the heavy cream and bring to a boil.
- Add the reserved ½ cup of pasta water and stir. Simmer for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in the parmesan cheese into the sauce.
- Add the cooked pasta and toss it well.
- Garnish with additional parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.
Notes
Feel free to customize with vegetables such as spinach or mushrooms for added nutrition.
Using freshly grated Parmesan cheese will enhance the flavor and texture of the dish.
