Description

This Chocolate Chip Walnut Banana Bread is a delightful treat made with ripe bananas and chocolate chunks. Perfect as breakfast or a sweet snack, it offers simple prep and a luscious taste that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 2 oz chopped walnuts
  • 2 oz white chocolate chunks or chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10×5 loaf pan, lightly dusting it with flour.
  2. Mash the bananas using a fork until smooth and creamy in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas, sour cream, sea salt, and baking soda until fully combined.
  5. Add the flour and cinnamon, gently mixing until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks, walnuts, and white chocolate chunks, reserving some for garnish if desired.
  7. Pour the batter into the loaf pan, topping with extra chocolate and walnuts if you wish.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean. Cool before slicing.

Notes

For added sweetness, consider using very ripe bananas.
Tent the bread with foil after 50 minutes to prevent excessive browning while baking.
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
