Description

These Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with rich flavors. With simple ingredients like brown sugar and chocolate chips, they make for a perfect treat to brighten up any day!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled just until opaque
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl for two minutes.
  • Add vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk, whisking until light and creamy.
  • Mix in flour, baking soda, corn starch, and salt until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Scoop out cookie dough (about 1/4 cup per cookie), roll into balls, and chill in refrigerator for 1 hour or freezer for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Place chilled cookie dough balls about 3 inches apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until edges are golden and center appears slightly underbaked.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

For chewier cookies, do not overmix the dough after adding the flour.
Chilling the dough is essential for a perfect texture and flavor.
Make sure the butter is cooled to avoid cooking the eggs.
