Description

These Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful treat featuring fresh apples, cinnamon, and a delicious caramel sauce, perfect for brunch or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water, luke warm
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large apples, gala, honeycrisp, granny smith, or another tart and sweet variety
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted, or very soft
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup karo syrup
  • 1/2 15-ounce can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir well and let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix on low for 2 minutes until blended.
  3. Incorporate an additional 3½ cups of flour, stirring on low. You may need to add an extra 1/2 cup until the dough pulls away from the bowl. Knead on low for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rest in a warm spot for about 30 minutes until it doubles in size.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a rectangle. Roll it into a 24" x 12" rectangle, about 1/2" thick.

Notes

For best results, ensure your water is warm but not hot when activating the yeast.
You can use a variety of apples to customize the flavor.
Make ahead: Prepare the rolls the night before and refrigerate overnight before baking.
