Ingredients
Scale
- 6 tablespoons (84g) unsalted butter, sliced
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- ½ cup (118ml) heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, or vanilla bean paste
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add brown sugar and heavy whipping cream, and stir until it begins to boil.
- Let it boil without stirring for 3 minutes once it reaches a full boil.
- Remove from heat and mix in vanilla and salt.
- Transfer to a jar and allow to cool before sealing.
- The sauce will thicken as it cools; refrigerating will result in a soft solid. Reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds prior to use.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use high-quality vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste.
This sauce works wonderfully over ice cream or pancakes.
Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
