Ingredients
Scale
- 3 lb chicken wings, wings and drummettes split, wingtips removed
- 1 tbsp baking powder, (use aluminum free)
- 1 tsp fine sea salt
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup franks original red hot sauce
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar, or brown sugar
Instructions
- Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel before beginning.
- Preheat the oven to 450˚F. Prepare a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Mix the baking powder, salt, and garlic powder in a bowl, then sprinkle this mixture over the chicken, tossing to coat evenly. Set the chicken on the wire rack.
- Bake the wings for 25 minutes, then flip them and continue baking for another 25 minutes until they are crispy.
- Combine the melted butter, hot sauce, and sugar in a medium bowl. Once the chicken is done, transfer it to this bowl and toss until coated. Enjoy with your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
Using aluminum-free baking powder helps achieve a great crispiness.
For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate in the spice mix for a few hours before baking.
