- 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Scoop 6 one-tablespoon portions of chocolate sauce onto a parchment-lined plate or baking sheet. Freeze while preparing the cookie dough so the centers firm up.
- Melt unsalted butter in a light-colored saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until it turns golden with brown specks, about 7 minutes. Pour into a heatproof bowl and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Whisk together brown butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and slightly thickened. Mix in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until glossy and well combined.
- Whisk together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and sea salt in a separate bowl.
- Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
- Divide dough into 6 portions. Flatten each portion, place a tablespoon of frozen chocolate sauce in the center, fold the dough around it, and roll into a ball.
- Place dough balls snugly in a greased or parchment-lined cake pan. They should be touching or very close together.
- Refrigerate dough for about 10 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F.
- Bake for 14-15 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers look slightly underdone.
- Cool cookies in the pan for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and top with vanilla ice cream.
