Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
  • 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 57 small limes)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)

Instructions

  • Simmer the water and sugar in a saucepan to create a sugar syrup until dissolved, then allow to cool.
  • Once cooled, stir in fresh lime juice and fresh lemon juice to create the sweet and sour mix.
  • Prepare the glass by rimming it with lime and kosher salt, then fill it with ice.
  • In a shaker, combine the tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur with ice, shaking until cold.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

Use fresh citrus juices for the best flavor.
Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of sugar in the sweet and sour mix.
