Description
Enjoy a tasty Beef Burrito with lean ground beef, zesty spices, and melted cheese, all wrapped in a warm tortilla. It’s a quick and satisfying meal that everyone will love!

- 1 tablespoon canola oil or neutral cooking oil of choice
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 ½ teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 small yellow or white onion (¼-inch diced)
- 1 (15-ounce) can reduced-sodium black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 cup prepared salsa
- 6 burrito-size flour tortillas (about 10 inches)
- 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Monterey Jack, sharp cheddar, or Mexican blend cheese
- Sour cream
- Avocado
- Hot sauce
- Chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and press it into a 1/2-inch thickness using a spoon. Sizzle for 3 to 4 minutes until a crust forms.
- Sprinkle with chili powder, oregano, cumin, salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Add diced onion. Break the beef into small pieces and continue cooking for about 4 minutes until fully cooked.
- Stir in the beans and salsa, cooking until warmed through and most of the liquid has evaporated, about 1 minute. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- To assemble burritos, place a tortilla on a flat surface and add about 3 tablespoons of cheese down the center. Top with approximately 2/3 cup of the beef mixture and another 3 tablespoons of cheese.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla inwards over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to secure. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
- To heat, warm a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Brown the burrito seam side down for 1 to 2 minutes, then flip to brown the other side. Let cool slightly before serving with preferred toppings.
Notes
You can use any blend of cheese you prefer.
Feel free to customize with your favorite toppings such as jalapeños or additional veggies.
Leftover filling can be stored in the fridge for a quick meal later.
