- 16 ounces spaghetti
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley or 2 tablespoons dried
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ⅓ cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1 pound lean ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 green bell pepper diced
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
- 32 ounces pasta sauce or marinara sauce
- 1 (14.5 ounces) can diced tomatoes with juices
- 1½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook spaghetti in a large pot of salted water according to package directions until al dente.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with diced green pepper, onion, garlic, and salt, breaking up the meat. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Mix in the pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer uncovered for 5 to 10 minutes until thickened. Stir in the cooked spaghetti and parsley afterward.
- Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish, sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan, and bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden. Cut into squares to serve.
Notes
You can substitute ground beef with Italian sausage for a different flavor.
