- 3 apples, peeled & diced
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1–2 tbsp water
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp apple juice
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 2 (16 oz) cans pillsbury grands buttermilk biscuits
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Generously coat the inside of a Bundt pan with non-stick spray.
- Peel, core, and dice the apples. Mix them with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, and add the apples; cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring until tender and liquid evaporates (add water if they dry out). Cool slightly.
- Layer half of the caramelized apples in the bottom of the pan.
- Cut each biscuit into quarters.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a gallon Ziplock bag and shake to mix.
- Coat half the quartered biscuits in the cinnamon sugar mix, then distribute them into the prepared pan.
- Add the remaining caramelized apples on top of the biscuits.
- Coat the rest of the quartered biscuits and place them in the pan.
- In a small saucepan, melt brown sugar and butter over low heat until well combined, then pour it over the biscuits.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it sit briefly; then turn over onto a dinner plate.
- For icing, whisk together powdered sugar, apple juice, and vanilla, and drizzle over the slightly cooled monkey bread.
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding chopped nuts to the apple mixture.
Ensure that the biscuits are fully coated for a better taste.
Let the monkey bread cool for a few minutes before inverting to prevent sticking.
