Description

This Chewy Gooey Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie features a perfect blend of flavors and textures, combining chocolate chips and buttery goodness in a simple skillet method. Ideal for a sweet treat anytime!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet
  • flaked salt, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet over low heat for 5 minutes. Add the butter and let it melt completely. Stir in the brown sugar and white sugar with a wooden spoon. Turn off the heat or remove from the burner.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and egg yolks together, then add to the skillet mixture and stir immediately. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined. The mixture will be thick and may take a minute or two.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips. Bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until mostly set in the center. Top with flaked sea salt before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a cast iron skillet for even cooking.
Serve warm for a gooey texture, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Make sure to turn off the heat when mixing in the eggs to avoid cooking them.
